At the cross and resurrection God replaced the old with something radically new. Goodness and favour for all mankind-now.

The curse of dullness.

Is Christianity meant to be exciting? Is it about keeping your nose clean and doing meetings? Without miracles it gets hard to stay excited and motivated about things. Meetings, spiritual disciplines and great teaching are all great but they don’t generate and sustain passion for God like healings and miracles do. Jesus built a big ‘fire’ of breakthroughs in peoples lives that attracted more and more people, without printing an advert. His disciples’ encounters with the Spirit propelled them forward in a hostile environment. People gravitate to power, and seeing it motivates you to faithfulness.

There is something shocking about God really showing up. He isn’t safely tucked away in church, or in my prayer time, or even just trapped in the pages of scripture as a great story of yesterday. He is on the move across our planet in dramatic ways. The presence of God exposes me and draws me in at the same time. Reality exposes my unreality. Power reveals my dullness and rekindles my fire.

There is no end to how much of God I can have. My experience and knowledge of him just keep stretching me in wonderful ways. When his love and power hits you, you can feel so affected that you think you have maxed out what can be had. That’s so not the case. I want to keep thirsty, I want to keep encountering so I can keep imparting. Because dull is just that.

I so agree! Dull relationships are just plain B-O-R-I-N-G!!! It is so exciting when we get close to God how sparkly our relationship becomes!
